Salam is a beautiful aspect of Islam. An exchange of greetings turns enemies into friends. Love between two people is beneficial. Love grows between familiar acquaintances. Strangers can be adopted. This beautiful beauty exists only in Islam. Which is not in any other religion.
A person asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) - Which thing is best in Islam? He said, you will feed and greet everyone you know and don't know. Sunan Abu Dawud, Hadith No. 12
"Salam" means wishing for peace. I am very surprised to see the students of Qawmi Madrasa! Among them is the propagation of Salam. Greetings to everyone, big and small. There is no difference between big and small. It is currently lacking in our society. Young people will greet me because I am big. I am big, why should I greet the little ones? And if it is a little named personality, it is not in words. If not, he goes back and complains - So-and-so's son is a big badass. I didn't say hello even though I was passing by. Prophet He did not discriminate like that. The Prophet (ﷺ) used to greet everyone, big and small. We will also try to fit this practice in ourselves - in sha Allah!
Salam means peace. As soon as I saw a Muslim brother, I said, "Assalamu Alaikum." Meaning, "Peace be upon you." In response to Salam, he said, "Walaikum Salam". Meaning, "Peace be upon you also." Thus seeking peace for all, known and unknown, is only in Islam.
He who salutes first, is freed from pride. Because, proud people feel shy to greet first. Rather, they look forward to the greetings of others. I am a famous person. How do I greet a day laborer? Arrogants look down on the common people. But, Islam has prioritized salam to eliminate this difference. Hadith has it—
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said - The best of people in the sight of Allah is the one who greets first. Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 5197
Allah Ta'ala says, 'And when you are greeted, you will greet him better than that or give the same in response.' Surah-4 Nisa, verse: 86
However, some superstitions still remain in our society. When he met a Muslim brother, he greeted and smiled. But, now say hi (hi) by shaking hands. But there is no blessing in him. No goodness, no blessings! Another superstition is to salute by bowing your head and holding your feet. Which is completely illegal. Bowing down to anyone except Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is absolutely haram. The reformation of the heathen, which the Muslims are clinging to.
There is a lot to write about the charm of Islam. Salam is a beautiful aspect of Islam. I presented it in a short form with greetings.
